The Resurrection

Hello from the other side, not Tomeopathy’s words, but the words of Adele. Tomeopathy is however going to borrow them at this time, as they prove to be quite apt. That’s right, Tomeopathy is back from a self-imposed exile and ready to make up for missing time. Where has Tomeopathy been for the last year? (None of) You ask. The answer, quite simply, is that it is none of your business. The slightly more revealing, but still not an answer, answer is that the competing personal priorities of Tomeopathy’s alter ego won the day around this time last year (hey, even Superman had to turn in a 9-5 when he was masquerading as Clark Kent). And then, well then, the whole World went to shit and the alter ego has been busy justifying their continued existence in a salaried position, washing it’s hands, and dodging elderly, maskless relatives who insist the whole thing’s a hoax, and even if it is real, it’s 5Gs fault.
While Tomeopathy did not find the time (or lets be honest, the motivation) to furnish the World Wide Web with its internal musings, it did spend an inordinate amount of time locked inside its own dwelling. That time was far from wasted, books aplenty were devoured.
As promised on a previous blog and completely forgotten about, Tomeopathy really will post its thoughts on Chronicles of the Unhewn Throne and The Book of Hidden Things. Alongside those expect to hear about: The Faithful and the Fallen – John Gwynne; Sealskin – Su Bristow; Armada – Ernest Cline; Liveship Traders – Robin Hobb; Unhuman Series – Wilkie Martin; Mistborn 1-6 – Brandon Sanderson; The Fifth Season – N.K. Jemisin; Red Queen’s War – Mark Lawrence; Station Eleven – Emily St John Mandel; Old Kingdom – Garth Nix; His Dark Materials – Philip Pullman; A Man of His Word – Dave Duncan; The Seventh Sword – Dave Duncan; and finally my current squeeze, A Handful of Men by none other than Dave Duncan.
From that previous blog (hmm, a familiar theme of absentia) you may recall that the number of unread books stored on Tomeopathy’s kindle this time last year was 265, well thanks to Corona Virus 2019 and the substantial efforts noted above, that the number has reduced to… oh, hang on, it’s gone up. Yes, that’s correct, even with nothing else to do, Tomeopathy has still bought more books than it has read (thanks be to someone for Kindle deals, Tomeopathy feels deeply guilty about local book stores, but 99% of the books it buys cost 99p, so…). This news is actually quite deflating, in a more reflective mood Tomeopathy may begin to dwell on the futility of its existence, we’ll save that for another time though, right now there’s reviews to be written. First, just one more chapter of A Handful of Men…
