Introducing Tomeopathy Jr.

As the Tomeopathy website has developed over the last couple of months, it’s struck me that it would be nice to feature an alternative voice, a second opinion, a Yang to my Ying. What’s required is a contrast, someone or something at the opposite end of the age/gender/personality spectrum to Tomeopathy. As luck would have it, twelve years before Tomeopathy was a glint in anyone’s eye, I had the forethought to create a real live human being to act as this websites voice of innocence, a youthful, optimistic, effervescent counterpoint to my world weary, cynical observances. A combination of gentle nature and ferocious nurture has blessed this miniature humanoid with a fierce love of dragons, magic and the simple pleasure of nestling down within the warm glow of a book. I’m desperately hoping (probably futile) that this love of stories will continue for several years hence, before hormones, peer pressure and a debilitating crush on a wrong’un arrive. One unfortunate downside to the careful nurturing of my tiny homunculus is that the size of its self-admiration is the direct inverse of its body mass, still every silver lining needs a cloud to hide in.

In the short term wherever you see this “Tomeopathy Jr. recommends for…” it means that my progeny has deemed the work in question to be of sufficient quality, we’ll add a suggested age range, but don’t sue us if you disagree. In the longer term you’ll find “Tomeopathy Jr. says…” appearing, in which case you can be reassured that the words and sentiments are literally those of child, rather than the remainder of website which is figuratively so (Tomeopathy Sr. may edit the language slightly, but only to avoid the personal embarrassment of being surpassed in writing quality). If the tone of the Tomeopathy Jr. sections appear a little sour or terse, please bear in mind that their presence is completed predicated on blackmail and bribery, Tomeopathy Jr. has an annoying predilection for re-reading old favourites (I wonder where they get that from?!) and will totally leverage fresh swag to read new stuff, so commentary will arrive as and when Tomeopathy has available funds..
